Track preventative maintenance requirements, outstanding deficiencies, repair history, and upcoming maintenance needs across the Mining Services fleet.

Forecast & obtain Project Manager approvals for scheduling equipment outages. 

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the CMMS or maintenance tracking system, including work orders, equipment history, deficiencies, warranty information, and completed repairs to support audits and reporting.

Coordinate seasonal and cold-weather readiness, including block heaters, winter-grade fluids, batteries, and other measures required to reduce weather-related downtime.

Coordinate vehicle passes and the issuing, transfer, and return of light-duty vehicles and mobile equipment for project and site use.

Coordinate and track the Mining Services light-duty vehicle fleet and rental contracts, including rental lifecycle dates, extensions, returns, and timely notification to Project Managers.

Parts, Inventory & Cost Management

Identify required parts and materials, obtain vendor quotes, submit purchase or order requests, and follow up on deliveries to minimize equipment downtime and project delays.

Maintain and track on-site inventory at laydown areas across project sites, ensuring equipment,  tooling, parts, components, and materials are accurately accounted for and available when required.

Monitor and pursue eligible warranty claims and coverage on equipment and vehicles to recover repair costs where possible.

Track maintenance spending against approved budgets or forecasts and flag significant cost variances to the appropriate manager.

Compliance, Continuous Improvement & Reliability.

Ensure vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules align with Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP), National Safety Code (NSC), and other applicable regulatory and Company requirements.

Support equipment-related hazard assessments, and track assigned corrective actions through completion.

Track mechanic certifications, license renewals, and training requirements in cooperation with the Training department to support workforce compliance.

Analyze breakdown trends, repair history, equipment age, and costs to recommend improvements to maintenance planning, preventative maintenance programs, scheduling, and asset reliability.

Basic Service

Plan, inspect, service, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, dismantle/assemble parts, rebuild, and make the necessary repairs to all Ketek and Client equipment.

Troubleshoot, plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, low voltage direct current, electronics and pneumatic principles, trade techniques, properties of  various materials, operating and application principles of equipment.

Install, align, take apart and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, water pressure systems, fans, tanks, furnaces and generators according to  layout plans using hand or power tools.

Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.

Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Repair or replace defective parts on machinery.

Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by hand, power tools and welding equipment.

Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.

Receive general instructions and plans for the work to be performed.

Communicate with other journeyman, engineers, trades and supervisor on methods, procedures and hazards.

Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine the work needed.

The Senior Driving Instructor Contractor also supports program consistency, mentorship of other instructors, and continuous improvement of driver education classroom delivery.

Position Background:

The Journeyman Mechanic works to guide and mentor apprentices. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues and repair to ensure equipment is performing optimally.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and apprentices
• Exercise judgement in the selection of materials and tools as well as methods so that the job is performed in accordance with accepted manufacturers specifications and safety standards
• Examine the reason, through cause analysis, for failure or improper operation of engines, pumps, running gear, parts, and equipment
• Maintenance of Mobile OFF-ROAD equipment (front end loaders, excavators, bobcats, forklifts, air compressors, HDPE fusion equipment, scissor lift, man lift, towing equipment and other)
• Maintenance of heating equipment. Perform annual service of Forced air equipment, flameless heaters. Ground towing equipment
• Test and operate repaired equipment as required
• Follow manufacturing guideline to complete work orders as per Ketek policies and maintenance guides, order parts, communicate with other workers, make recommendations
• Conduct housekeeping duties
• Perform other related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Journeyman Heavy Equipment Service Technician certificate with minimum one- year experience (Required)
• Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Fluent in English
• Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Strong work ethic
• Fall Protection Experience (Preferred)

Shift:

• 14 on 7 off, day shift
• On-call availability
• Able to work in all weather conditions

The Pumping Technician is essential to the execution of routine tasks either on a project site or at a Ketek shop. In a situation to observe and ask questions, this position is vital to the growth of the Projects Team and is an important step toward the employee’s career growth and therefore the enhancement of Ketek’s field team.

CORE DUTIES:

Project / Field

• Assist with the mobilization, monitoring, troubleshooting and demobilization of: well pumps, diesel pumps, and electric submersible pumps
• Maintain, repair, install, and service: generators, light towers, and heating equipment
• Operate field trucks, loaders and skid steers in a safe manner
• Take instruction from the Site Supervisor or Site Foreman to ensure projects are completed in a safe manner, on time, and on budget
• Assist with the routine maintenance and servicing of equipment in the field
• Use, clean, and maintain the different tools required at the worksite
• Load and unload equipment by hand
• Perform routine onsite housekeeping duties
• Assist and mentor Field Labourers

Shop Operations

• Clean equipment and tools
• Receive, understand and execute instructions from Shop Foreman and senior employees
• Disassemble equipment, if needed, to thoroughly clean
• Identify faulty/damaged equipment and/or defective materials and inform supervisor of problem
• Determine the correct type of tools/equipment to be used for a specific task
• Utilize checklists, inspections, work procedures and safety guidelines to complete tasks
• Complete assigned tasks in a safe, efficient and timely manner
• Perform routine housekeeping duties in the shop

Other Duties

• Complete all required paperwork on a daily basis, including hazard assessment and Daily Job Control Sheet
• Cooperate with Training department for scheduling of new/recertification training
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
• Ensure all Ketek’s work procedures, policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed

• Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract
• High school diploma or GED
• Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
• Experience working with basic hand tools
• Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
• Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills
• Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills
• Experience towing a trailer
• Experience on oilfield or oilsands sites
• Experience operating a wheel loader and/or skid steer
• Experience in dewatering, well-testing, or water transfer

This position is defined as Safety Sensitive: Drug, Alcohol, Back, and Audio tests are required prior to commencing employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands

•  Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, stoop, climb, lift, balance, kneel and use of hands/fingers to operate tools, machinery and materials
• Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required
• Use of mechanical aids: overhead crane, forklift, pallet jack, and dolly may be required
• Regular exposure to loud noises and metal particulates - hearing and respiratory protection is provided when needed
• Potential exposure to acetylene gas, fumes, oil, and paint residue

Journeyman Electrician

The Journeyman Electrician interprets drawings, sketches and specifications to produce or repair various parts and equipment, as well as undertakes the set-up and general maintenance of electrical systems. The Journeyman Electrician uses various equipment, machinery and hand tools to achieve the final product.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Planning, layout, and illustration of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
• Perform on-site service calls to support our equipment at customer facilities both local and out of town
• Read and Interpret drawings, blueprints, and schematics for electrical equipment
• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, to ensure compliance with codes
• Troubleshoot equipment
• Mentor Apprentice Electricians
• Perform cable pulling and wire installations and terminations
• Perform routine housekeeping duties on site and service truck for cleanup/maintenance
• Keep an accurate account for project assembly hours and materials

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or Red Seal
• Industrial and commercial experience is an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract
• Strong interpersonal skills
• AWP experience (Preferred)
